Pedestrian seriously hurt in hit-and-run in Long Beach

Motorists have many obligations. Even if operating a motor vehicle appears to be a simple and routine task, it is an activity that requires much attention and care. Drivers are obligated to uphold a duty of care. The size and weight of a motor vehicle could deem it a weapon in certain situations, causing serious and even fatal injuries in the event of a crash. Much like a driver is expected to follow the rules of the road while operating a motor vehicle, they are also expected to follow the laws in the event of a car accident. Failure to do so is deemed a hit-and-run, which could result in criminal and civil penalties for a driver.

According to recent reports, authorities in Long Beach responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian. Based on preliminary reports, the pedestrian accident occurred on Anaheim street Officers believe the accident happened around 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Oregon Avenue. After colliding with the pedestrians, the driver fled the scene of the accident.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the male pedestrian was found in serious condition. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. He is currently in stable condition. Authorities discovered a bloody skateboard near the scene and believe that the victim may have been riding a skateboard at the time of the crash.

Investigation is still ongoing. Once complete and the suspected vehicle and driver involve din the crash are located, the cause and liability in the crash can be established. If a negligent driver is at fault in a pedestrian crash, it is possible to take legal steps to protect your rights. A personal injury claim could help a victim hold a negligent driver accountable while also helping with the recovery of compensation for losses and damages.
